This Swedish duo of Anders Tillman and Björn Fridholm make their debut with this 4-song 7" EP. They combine indiepop guitar jangle with frigid keyboard and drum machine and buried, indistinct vocals. "My London Love" and "Background" are stark in a post-Joy Division way. "Twist (Spaced Out)" has a shoegazery keyboard effect that sounds like an accellerating video game motorcycle shifting through gears; it's nifty at first, but it loses impact as it repeats continuously throughout the song. Unfortunately, the recording quality on these songs has no depth whatsoever—it sounds like it's in mono, as though all the instruments and vocals were run through a single PA speaker with the reverb on 10 and recorded with one microphone. I'm all for lo-fi and doing what you can with what you have, but the flat, homogeneous sound quality really hamstrings what could have been an effectively moody release. (mike.06.06)
